Ooohlalaa its fashion goes fourth

This past year has been a whirlwind, or what some would call a life lesson. I have successfully managed to embrace opportunity, expand my horizon and quite simply look at the bigger picture. Ambition is everything to me, but how you get there when life throws everything in your way is the real test.

Over the past year Ooohlalaa it's fashion has transgressed into something else. Something that provides you with more than the hottest trends fresh from the runway, but instead a platform with a meaning and a purpose. It is incredibly important to me to say what needs to be said so whether we get sassy in the Summer together, dominate new city street style or scream about a cause or campaign we feel so passionately about, we strive to make it known.

In a world where revolution is simmering at the core of our society, discussing purely trivial topics is not enough. However that doesn't mean we need to take everything too seriously, instead it encourages us to use our voice in all areas that we love.

Over the next few months expect things to get outrageous, over the top and ultimately show stopping. Sassy city frolicking keeps us playing, experimenting and striving for the bigger picture. Powerful minds pave the way for powerful thoughts. So whether it's the height of your heels, the destination of your dreams or the fight you are about to undertake let it be known, we are here to inspire, influence and succeed.

Another year passes and your support continuously means the world to me my darlings, now more than ever.
Happy fourth Ooohlalaa it's fashion, let's slay in this new dimension x

If you go down to the woods

It's not very often I get a chance of a 'break', i'm always on the go.
This weekend was a little different. After spending yesterday eating ice cream by the riverside, soaking up that fleeting British Summer, today I went that one step further.
My sister turned17 today and it's not very often we get to spend time together, so we decided to go for a little woodland frolicking. We visited Alnwick Castle, a place of history, iconically British and unforgettably a location where Harry Potter was filmed.
There was something so peaceful and most of all relaxing about visiting this gorgeous landscape. Instead of getting caught up in the hustle of the city I actually spent my Sunday doing exactly as I pleased, of course that included spending lunchtime sipping cocktails.
I like to constantly work.
I keep myself motivated at all costs, but sometimes it becomes a little unhealthy.
It's always okay to take that breath of fresh air you need.
Never feel guilty, as long as you choose to spend it wisely.

Turning 21

Darlings, I am back!!
So I may have been a little MIA for the past week but I was busy celebrating my 21st birthday. I jet off to Ibiza for a few days of sun, sea and fabulous. Of course if I was going to miss the beginning of NYFW I made sure I was going to do it in style ... sipping cocktails and visiting to-die-for beaches.
Here is a little insight into my birthday week ...
Jetting off with River Island sunglasses, a blueberry gel mani and a few glasses of champagne.

We arrived on my favourite island of Ibiza and immediately went to get ready to party the night away with Paris Hilton at her Foam&Diamonds party at Amnesia. I wore a River Island pink cami and Topshop scalloped skort.

We spent the days drinking cocktails and the nights clubbing with our favourite DJs at some of the worlds hottest superclubs.

On our second night I returned to Pacha for David Guetta's F*** Me I'm Famous party, one of my favourite nights on the island. I wore a River Island white crop top and paired with with a gorgeous lime skort from New Look.
Pacha is my favourite club in the world and the night was magical.
If anyone knows me I am a sunseeker and Ibiza has some of the best beaches in the world. If any of you know the instagrams of travel bloggers and many famous faces they visit the island of Formentera and we did too ... any guesses why?

Straight hair, don't care.
Leaving Formentera for a two hour boat trip through the sunset.

I was lucky enough to turn 21 at the strike of midnight on a beach in my favourite place in the world. I danced on the beach with one of my darlings friends, some would call me one very lucky girl.
I awoke to a champagne breakfast on my last day, my birthday.
Waving goodbye to this island gets harder every time but my return is inevitable. 21 never felt so good and I spent my birthday in front of this amazing view. Here I am wearing a vibrant River Island playsuit and Lauren's Way wash off glow

Most people would be devastated on their return from holiday however I did not have a chance. After a 3 hour delay and then a 3 hour flight my emotions were running high fuelled with birthday excitement, airport bordem and tiredness. These blues were soon vanished when I opened my birthday present.
In absolute shock I was greeted with the keys to a fabulous Fiat 500. Although these are my favourite cars I never thought I would be the owner never mind receive one as a present!
Tonight I write my blogpost sat in my pyjamas with a glass of rose. The past few days have been hectic and crazy yet amazing and worthwhile. I will spend the next week celebrating my birthday in the city. Keep your eyes peeled via my instagram @tashaamorrish for more Ibiza snippets.

Follow Ooohlalaa it's fashion over the next month for daily fashion week updates. Over the next day I am preparing a highlight post from the first few days in which I missed. Daily blogging will commence on Tuesday 8th September with NYFW.
Ciao darlings.

A girl should be two things; classy and fabulous- Coco Chanel

August 19th, 130 years ago a fabulous, creative, woman was born: Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel.
In honour of her birthday it is only right that we look back on the legacy left by such an amazing woman. The chanel house is still flourishing year after year with every inch of femininity, sophistication and class that it had when it was founded.

'In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different'

The childhood of Gabrielle Chanel was far from delightful. Her mother died when she aged 12 (or aged 6 as she claimed) leaving her father no choice but to send her to a French convent. Once leaving the convent to pursue a job in a local tailors, putting her skill of sewing that she had learned at the convent to use, she met Etienne Balsan, ex military and a textile heir. She became his mistress and lived in a chateau with him for 3 years whilst he indulged in an overly extravagant and luxurious lifestyle. It was whilst she lived in the chateau she began creating hats.

'Where should one use perfume?' a young woman asked. 'Wherever one wants to be kissed,' I said.'

Gabrielle chose the name Coco after her stint as a singer.

She met Arthur Capel an english polo player whose name is now well known for becoming Chanels muse and love. He was also a friend of Balsans. He financed Chanel's shops and perfumes which aided her establishing the maison of Chanel. He died in 1910 in a car crash leaving Chanel devastated.

'Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.'

It was in 1920 Coco made her breakthrough with the introduction of a loose fitting jersey for women, who during this time were wearing corsets. Maison Chanel was created at 31, rue Cambon in Paris where the headquarters remain to this day. In 1925 came the signature black cardigan and in 1926 the iconic Little Black Dress. Comfort and freedom were Chanel's aim for women and the clothes they wear.

Coco herself was a woman who stood her ground. The iconic tan, bob and red lips were part of what made her world renown. She received much criticism during WW2 when she began an affair with a German Nazi officer. This impacted her lines success in Europe. However she found most of her early success within the United states.

'Elegance is not the perogative of those who have just escaped from adolescence, but of those who have already taken possession of their future.'

Chanel died in 1971, aged 88. She spent her last days enjoying her private apartment in the Ritz and worked right up until her death.

Karl Lagerfeld has been chief designer of the Chanel House since 1982 and has continued the legacy of the one and only founder. Coco Chanel is credited with making a successful fashion house and introducing liberation within fashion, Karl has continued this.

A LBD, Cardigan and the best selling fragrance in the world Chanel No'5, it was only right she became the only designer to make the Times 100 list of influential people of the 20th century.

Happy birthday Coco, the world of fashion remembers your excellence and thrives off your inspiration.

The stars have fallen in love with Chanel
