A week in the name of Fashion; daily fabulous

Manicure Monday
Monday is the perfect day for pampering, preparing you for the rest of the week. Shellac (£25), Minx (£25) and Swarovski (£85) are the latest nail trends around. Make your nails statement making and eye catching to not only complement your outfit but to feel fabulous as your Monday blues begin to fade away.
Tote bag Tuesday

Can you think of a more perfect way to show off your new glamorous nails? A bag can change an outfit or appearance dramatically. Experiment with colour! A good handbag is always a must and totes are perfect for not only work but for every occasion.

'On Wednesdays we wear WHITE'

White is one of the hottest colours about right now, as long as it is styled right! It maybe a bold choice or out of your confident zone but with white you can look classy and chic not to mention my favourite monochrome trend!

Tailored Trouser Thursdays

Chic, sophisticated, smart .. you decide. Tailored trousers are such an amazing creation. If patterned try wearing with a plain blouse and costume necklace or if plain wear with a pop of colour. Make sure your trousers are tailored so they show your fabulous figure at its finest darling!

Floral Fridays
TGIF! Work (for some) is over and your outfit should reflect your mood. Florals are one of the greatest trends on the catwalk for this season so there is no better way to show your admiration. Florals are a little edgier than plain and boring work clothes, your outfit is preparing your mood and excitement for the weekend.

Sophisticated Saturdays
Saturday’s are for cocktails and clubs (and shopping of course), a chance to wear your favourite outfits and show off your favourite trends. Sophistication is an element of elegance. I love the black and red combination but that is not say you cannot experiment with bolds and colours clashes. Whether you are going for a meal or dancing the night away indulge in making your luscious locks, make up and outfit glimmer to their finest. Look good, feel good.

Slumber Sundays

For a lot of people Sunday is the last day off before work. Pyjama days have never been my thing but this is about to change. What if your Pyjamas looked as fabulous as your outfits? I love this Miss Selfridge lingerie playsuit! Glamour can occur both day and night so when you are having what might be a ‘lounge’ day you can look mesmerising whilst doing so.

Fabulous fashion occurs all week darlings!

Introducing the Royal Baby ...

At 7:15pm after a 36 hour wait, or should I say 23 day wait for the worlds press the Royal Baby was introduced to the world. Both William and Kate glimmered showing how in love they are with their precious arrival.
Kates locks looked fabulous along with her choice of outfit, a blue Jenny Packham polka dot dress. Diana also wore a polka dot dress when William was born.
They are yet to choose a name leaving the world anticipating even more.

Our future Kings and Queen,

Work hard, play harder

You will get nowhere in life without hard work and dedication, which should commence with enthusiasm and elegance.
Never, ever have I hit the snooze button on my alarm. If something needs to be accomplished it will be accomplished.
Waking up in the morning and knowing what lies in your day ahead is something that calms me yet brings out my pedantic nature.

Some may laugh or question my choice but before I go to bed at night you will find a spotless room and the next day’s outfit hanging on my door. A little OCD if you ask me but it pays off for the feeling you get when you wake up in the morning, prepared. On days of lectures, meetings or work I jump out of bed, wash then tame my bed headed locks before doing my makeup. A cup of tea is always a must before I sit and indulge on the morning news to catch up with current affairs. I then get ready and choose my shoes before picking up my already packed bag and dash off.

Punctual but not too early is a good routine to catch onto.
I love being at University in the city centre. In between lectures and seminars I can shop or grab a starbucks and still only be a few minutes away from home.
Work is a little different, it’s challenging working in a city centre and spending all day on your feet is difficult however it’s all worth in the end.
Whether the sun is shining in the glorious city of Newcastle or the rain is making the high street into a river, life goes on.

It’s the time’s when you have a little too much work or you are dealing with a difficult customer that frustrate and agitate you to a max but just remember the harder you work the harder you play.

I may have a 4 day week at uni with one day off to catch up on my uni work and then work the remaining 2 days, it may rain, my flatmates may leave the kitchen a mess. I may not get in til late at night and have to be up early the next morning but in the end I come home feeling accomplished. The feeling of accomplishment means when that next night out comes around you can let your hair down and enjoy, or perhaps you buy that ridiculously priced top that you do not really need. Who cares? Darling you have worked for it.

 Accomplished.

The tights featured were sent to me by Jen from the Pantyhose Project. I am wearing Semi-opaque and ultra gloss tights and they are fabulous (especially the ultra gloss which make your legs look gorgeous without the need of a tan!).
Shoes are by Schuh and Miss Selfridge.

Dress for success; the art of power dressing

“Act as though it is impossible to fail.”- Dorothea Brande

What is success? Achieving the perfect job or perhaps the perfect outfit? Success is what you make of it. The example I like to use most often is that of Politics and Fashion, subjects very close to my heart. Look at the likes of Hilary Clinton, ex Secretary of State and soon to be presidential candidate or we can look back at the legacy of Margaret Thatcher, both successful politicians that mastered the fashion industry aswell as the political arena.

I sit writing this blog post as the Channel 4 documentary entitled, ‘Princess Diana’s Dresses: The Auction’, appears on my screen. Diana knew how to present herself with grace and poise whether she was a member of the Royal family or not. She used the art of power dressing in many of her engagements. The limelight today is shone on Michelle Obama or perhaps Victoria Beckham whose work as well as their outfit is plunged into recognition.

Dress for success.

Power dressing is an area of fashion that greatly intrigues me and one that I think about quite a lot whilst choosing my outfits. Like with any old man who can throw on a suit and show his apparent, ‘authority’ women do the same. Tailored and thought through is the key to playing the perfect part on the road to domination. You want to walk down the street and for people to have a second glance, admiring your outfit. For me powerdressing makes me feel fabulous and a fabulous self triggers determination and the desire for success.
Here are the key pieces to the ultimate power dressing wardrobe:

The Dress
Experiment with length. This is where the above the knee rule should apply. You do not have to be wearing a ridiculously short dress but as long as it is structured and flattering you are on the right track. Do not drown yourself in a dress that is too long or wear something too tight, trust me there is nothing powerful in your appearance when you are tugging at them all night.

Pieces featured are from: All Saints, £148 J Crew, £174 Miss Selfridge, £42

Top

Hello Pussybow! This is an absolute favourite of mine, it feels feminine and flirty yet has every inch of sophistication that is required. Whether it is a long or short sleeve, dark or light wear a Pussybow blouse and you are dressing to impress … or should I say success. High necklines are also great to work with. Experiment with different patterns and bold colours but nothing too extravagant where patterns are concerned.

Pieces featured are from: Ted Baker, £34 Warehouse, £25

Bottoms
Tailored, tailored, tailored! If you are wearing trousers you want them to be the perfect fit so they complement your top to the highest quality. The pencil skirt is also fabulous for the workplace paired with heels and a blouse.

Pieces featured are from: Miu Miu, £595 Oscar de la Renta, £670

Jackets

A jacket is a must have and we are not talking the boring suit jacket! Cropped jackets are really on trend this season and go perfectly with dress, skirts and trousers not to mention flats or heels. On the other hand you can never go wrong with a blazer to smarten up your look. Even if you are running late and in a rush throw on a blazer and your look is transformed.

Pieces featured are from: Bannana Repbulic, £110 Topshop, £68

Shoes and Handbag
The shoes and handbag are my favourite part of the whole ensemble. You may remember my blogpost, ‘The Power of High Heels’, and this says it all. Heels play a major part in power dressing. Height elaborates on dominance and makes you feel ready to do anything paving the way to success. A good handbag is also a must, I love my River Island one which you have previously seen in past blog posts. A handheld tote is something that can perfect any outfit.

Pieces featured are from: River Island, £45 Louboutin, £450

Remember mix and match designer and high street pieces.

Dressing to succeed lies with feeling good about yourself.

Let me know your most successful fashion moments and how they have aided to being successful women darlings.

Visit, Indulge and love this summer

Perfect your summer whether you are jetting off or not ...

Parties
The most perfect way to celebrate a British Summer is in true British style. Sophisticated garden parties or champagne gatherings are not only classy but sophisticated and chic. With Pimms pouring and cute outfits dazzling you’ll be sure to enjoy a flawless afternoon. Partying does not always have to include clubbing!

Perfect Homemade  Lemonade
·         Prep time: 10 minutes
INGREDIENTS
·         1 cup sugar (can reduce to 3/4 cup)
·         1 cup water (for the simple syrup)
·         1 cup lemon juice
·         3 to 4 cups cold water (to dilute)
METHOD
1 Make simple syrup by heating the sugar and water in a small saucepan until the sugar is dissolved completely.
2 While the sugar is dissolving, use a juicer to extract the juice from 4 to 6 lemons, enough
for one cup of juice.
3 Add the juice and the sugar water to a pitcher. Add 3 to 4 cups of cold water, more or less to the desired strength. Refrigerate 30 to 40 minutes. If the lemonade is a little sweet for your taste, add a little more straight lemon juice to it.
Serve with ice, sliced lemons.
Yield: Serves 6.

Shop
Shopping? Most girls favourite past time. Whether your preparing for your holidays or the numerous occasions ahead indulge in shopping for the day. Go somewhere you would not usually go. The cute boutiques of York or perhaps designer outlets, shop til you drop.

Places to try:
McArthur Glen Designer outlet, York
Liverpool One, Liverpool
Bluewater, Kent
The most obvious is Oxford or Regent St London. If you are lucky enough to live in London why not try Paris? You can make it there and back within the day leaving from St. Pancreas or if you live further afield stay the night? Make the most of it.

Read
I love reading whilst on holiday. Of course in Ibiza I was always on the go so I refrained from my reading purchases until my next holiday.
Relax and read, here are are my three main summer reads for 2013:

Revenge wears Prada: The Devil Returns, Lauren Weisberger-  The Sequel to The Devil Wears Prada (I know you’ve all seen the movie!)

Entwined with you, Sylvia Day- The third book in the series. If you were a 50 Shades of Grey lover like me last year this book is perfect for you. It’s not all about sex and seduction (although that plays a big part) it also includes mystery and romance. Make sure you read Bared to You and    Reflected in you first!

Looking for Alaska,  John Green-  Romance need I say more

Travel, Road Trip
TRAVEL! This is what summer is all about. I am personally interested in history and love the thought of visiting castles and historical towns. Having said this I love to travel so I am open to anything. Be spontaneous this summer. Visit the Zoo or a theme park or somewhere you would never have thought to have go. This is perfect for those who are not jetting off this summer.

Here are places I wish to travel to:
Nottingham Castle
Stirling Castle, Scotland
Thorpe Park, Surrey
Cornwall
Ireland- a country I’ve always wanted to go to!

Sports
Detox with Yoga or be adventurous and parasail over the sea. Seek to be a daredevil the summer. I love the excitement and thrill you get from adventure and water sports. Surfing is definitely not my type of thing (although I would try) but anything that is fast or high I am all in!

Camping
So we aren’t talking mud, rain and the middle of nowhere! Sleep on the beach or hidden in the woods you will never understand how much fun it is until you have tried it!

Party
Dance the night away in your favourite clubs. Try something new, go somewhere different, drink cocktails rather than vodka and meet new people.

Darlings visit, indulge and love ...
