Up in my space

I found my love of home decor through none other than Instagram and Pinterest. Sure, the fashion game is strong but that doesn't mean it's all about what you are wearing head to toe. Your home is a place you can make your own. My bedroom is a mixture of blush, cream and white tones. I'm all about simplicity and would call myself the opposite of a hoarder. You will find my desk area, also my blogging workspace, with an array of my go to make up products and always a copy of the latest Elle. You never know when you might go to reach for any of these things, particularly my laptop as I work better in the evening.
I am obsessed with my white high gloss draws. One thing that is my to live by rule is only keep on display what you are actually going to use. Whether this is make up, perfume, clothes or anything in between. If you don't need it why do you have it? A great deal of my things are kept in storage until the change in season.
Over the years I have built myself a collection of fashion reference books. I switch these around often for when i'm seeking a little inspiration. Whilst many can end up being ridiculously expensive I know these are something that will remain with me for years to come.
My interiors are mostly from Laura Ashley and Next and I would never stray. Their designs are fail proof, elegant and ultimately glamorous. If I could ever suggest one thing it would be invest in mirrored wardrobes, they are life changing and compliment the light when the sun is shining ... just not at 4.30am when I need to do my make up.
The top of my wardrobe is filled with shoes. If they have boxes that is where they live. Shoes are something I really do struggle to part with. On the left hand side I keep my off duty pieces and my right is all about work and outwear. In the middle I keep my favourite pieces covered to make sure they look every inch of show stopping as they were when I first received them. My Summer wardrobe is currently stored away until it at least hits 25 degrees ... i'm just kidding 15 will have to do. I often empty my wardrobe of old pieces and whilst I could sell many of them I prefer to place them in charity to bags so they can contribute towards a more meaningful cause.
As i'm always on the go I keep the shoes and handbags I am frequently using at the time by my door. This means that as I finish work and quickly need to change I can do so at ease.
Whilst my desk draw should be filled with all important things it isn't. I keep my planner, blogging diary and array of sunglasses stored in here. It may look simple and a little random but these are probably some of my favourite things. Guilty.

Where do you seek your favourite home decor inspirations?
Be sure to let me know.

Fashion Week Low down

Whats a Tuesday morning without Chanel? An army without Olivier? Paris without Giambattista dreams? AW17 is here and it's going to be one to remember. Riccardo Tisci presents his last Givenchy collection, Yeezy steps up his game and as for NYC? It's currently knee deep in snow. We love dramatics when it comes to fashion week, lets count on Jeremy Scott to shake things up.

The thing about girl power

Girl Power.
A term that has been used since the 1990s, most commonly defined within the realms of, 'female empowerment and independence'.

The reason why girl power continues to exist two and a half decades later is because it needs to. It goes without saying that girl power wasn't created in the 1990s but that's when the term entered our unparalleled society.

Now at 23 I first recall girl power associated with the Spice Girls, one of the greatest girl bands of all time. One where being yourself was central to it's values and lay at the core of it's foundations. Sporty, Scary, Baby, Ginger and Posh ... this was less about fulfilling the names they had given themselves and more about how they could coexist amongst each other, freely and enjoyably. After all they lived to, 'Spice up your life'.

Female empowerment is about embracing yourself and your role in society. Not those that are assigned to you but those of your own choice. Being powerful comes from you not how your social status or position in society defines you.

We look back once more to the women's march that had taken place just over two weeks ago around the world. This wasn't just women fighting for women, this was the world fighting for women. Gender inequality exists in society today, and it's something we are so passionately working on. When women aren't given freedom of their own bodies, when they are paid less than men and when they are continuously degraded the fight must go on. We aren't fighting against men, we are fighting with them.

So what about girl power? The thing about girl power is it continues to exist no matter what happens in the world. The Suffragettes fought for women's right to vote yet today women are still faced with endless issues in many other matters. Whilst it's easy to get caught up in the politics of it all, and the majority of the time incredibly important to engage with politics, we must never forget the feeling girl power brings.
Politics can never undermine that.

From Britain's longest reigning monarch of 65 years, Queen Elizabeth to Hillary Clinton who campaigned endlessly in attempt to become the first female US President, we are surrounded by empowered women. Just because you don't reach the end goal as expected doesn't make you any less powerful, it's about the fight to get there.

Girl power exists as long as we embrace it. Emma Watson fought for women's rights as the UN Women's Goodwill ambassador, Carrie Fisher worked in an all male cast on the set of Star Wars and Diane Von Furstenberg, a divorced Princess, became one of the world's most renown fashion designers.

So whether you are your prancing around singing your favourite Beyonce song, your show stopping in your brand new outfit, your actively campaigning for women's right or you quite simply love being a girl remember you are powerful.

The thing about girl power is no one can take it away from us.

Jump on it babe | Trend setter

A new season is approaching and with fashion week literally a few days away it's time to get your act together darling. We are talking this season's top trends to get you through the next few months before we get a little outrageous in the height of S/S.

Slogans | Jumpers, jeans, denim and all things in between. I'm confident that you have already seen everyone in the classic Gucci logo tee. Chiara Ferragni is your go to for all things badged and emoji and Dolce & Gabbana are truly experimenting this season. Alternatively you can seek those who reign at Moschino and go extravagantly extra, yet all the more gorgeous. You can pull this off, embrace it babe.

Gingham | There's no place like home after all. Gingham is everywhere. Who would have thought years later your school uniform would transgress into your wardrobe go to? There is little excuse to deny this pattern as it covers just about any item of clothing. Bring it all back.

Ruffle Hems | ... cannot keep away. Believe it or not ruffles are incredibly flattering when it comes to hemlines so if you're not a layer lover look elsewhere. Don't miss out.

V Cut courts & Scallop flats | Let your feet do the talking.

Crochet trim swimwear | Who doesn't start buying their swimwear in February? After the refresh of Tirangl last year it was only a matter of time before everybody fell in love with this flirtatious trend.

Velvet Bras | Our favourite designers are embracing flimsy, intricate bras this season and so should you. Step away from basics and invest when it comes to this wardrobe piece whether that's pairing with a tailored blazer or an array of our favourite mini skirts and shorts . If you get this right darling, you'll be the show stopper.

Next stop, it's AW17 RTW.
