LFWeekend Trend Show, Catwalk Exclusive

As you know darlings I have just returned from an amazing time in London Fashion Weekend. I have been so busy moving into my new apartment that blogging has been a little neglected and this is a post that I did not want to rush.
In this post I want to give you an exclusive on the LFWeekend trend show which included a never ending list of fabulous designers. These pictures are ones that I have taken myself from the show. There are four trends Pretty in Pink, Back to Nature, Shape up and Victoriana that were each styled by Pandora Lennard. The show itself was presented by Angela Scalon. I hope you enjoy these pieces as much as I did.
Pretty in Pink
So our first trend consisted of pink on pink. We saw a range of lengths and extravagant accessories including hats, scarves and snoods. This is proof that too much pink, still isn't enough. My favourite is the gorgeous bright fuschia skirt suit. The cut is amazing and the model looks perfect. Whether going out or simply for during the day there is a look for every occasion, the key is you need to experiment. Perhaps you think pink is  a little too girly? Well think again. So the last look is for those who adore pink (like me) and who are brave enough to wear such an ensemble. However if pink isn't your thing why not make it that little bit more subtle by adding a jacket which still shows your femininity but remains that little bit more understated.
Back to Nature
This trend is magical, mystical and mesmerizing. I love the colours, or should I say lack of them. The experimenting with different patterns is an element of perfection. Back to Nature is the epitome of everything the AW13 collection should be, fashionable and appropriate. My favourite piece is this exquisite fitted jumpsuit with a feathered quaker hat. An outfit that is show stopping. Although some of these looks such as the furry brown trousers and excessively large jumper are a little too experimental for my liking, the other pieces are thoughtful and creative. The key to this trend is to concentrate on either the top half of your body or the bottom. Perhaps a flowing patterned skirt with a simplistic jumper is more you than leather leggings and a fur, oversized jacket or vice versa? Either way your outfit is sure to attract all the attention it deserves.
 Shape Up
This trend was by far my favourite which may not come as a shock as you all know how much I love colour, shape and tailoring. I love the extent of variation which is down to Pandora Lennards impeccable styling. It is hard to choose my favourite in the trend as it is between the second green look, tailored purple and blue skirt suit or of course the gorgeous yellow ensemble that finished the trend. I love the play with legs covered? Knee high? Exposed? Each attempt works admirably. This collection shows how colour is essential in your AW13 wardrobe and you should never be afraid to try it. Yes we all love black and as you will see in the next trend, Victoriana, it is perfectly acceptable however you need to embrace all trends rather than your one favourite.
 Victoriana
BLACK! Yes, one our favourites. This trend is perfect for the catwalk as we can concentrate on the shape and styling rather than become distract by the vibrant colours. This trend confirms that simplistic and conservative is just as exciting as exposure and clashing. My favourite is the military style blazer and cropped trousers and we all know thats because of its phenomenal tailoring. We take a trip back in time ... we've done the whole shoulder pads, flapper dress craze the past few seasons so it's the turn of the Victorian era. I am so grateful that this trend has come into play as we choose to dress like such and have the option of dressing perhaps more seductively and provocatively yet have opted to wear pieces like these. The original wearer of these outfits did not have the choice. The only way to describe his collection is timely and dark which both provoke curiosity.

Expression, security, fashion- why choosing a handbag is so important

As you have seen in my previous post a handbag is a must have investment buy. Spending the money on a fabulous handbag is something you will never regret. Handbags are an element of not only security with only you knowing what you have inside, but in contrast expose your personal style and inner personality. A bag for every occasion ensures that you will always feel good about yourself as well as looking chic and glamourous.
The 3.1 Phillip Lim collection is the epitome of perfection when it comes to handbags. The colours, styles and quality are any girls dream. After all a handbag is one of the most important wardrobe pieces you can buy and has the ability to change the impact of an outfit.

A bag for ...
Work
3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Satchel £740
When choosing a handbag for work go for a dark colour, notice I say dark and not black. Although black is totally chic and I am a lover of the colour, experimenting and pushing the boundaries is a little more exciting. Bold but darker colours give the impression of sophistication however are still light enough for everyone to appreciate all the magnificent features, something a completely black handbag may lack. Make sure the inside of the bag is big enough for you to comfortably fit all your items in. The great thing about this bag is if you have plans for after work it has equally the same fabulous impact so need to switch.

Shopping

3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Satchel £740
A girls favourite past time? I think so. Here is where you can have lots of fun with colour and shape. I am in love with this bold yellow at the moment. No, it may not go with all outfits however have you never heard of colour clashing this season? plus how out there will your outfit be for shopping?
This handbag is my favourite from the collection.

Going out

3.1 Phillip Lim Leopard Clutch, £380
This is where the fun begins. Going out is the perfect opportunity to experiment and step outside of your comfort zone and there isn't a better way to do this than animal print. You have to be careful with animal print to ensure you that you pull it off in the right way and do it justice as it can easily look trashy when not styled proper. This clutch is simple and has no embellishment which gives off a mature and classy look meaning you can dress understated and subtle or dress it up with adding accessories to your ensemble. The print gives this handbag character and shows your edgier and more seductive style.

Travel

3.1 Black Leather Scout Hobo bag, £1125

For those of you who are constant jetsetters you will not find a bag that is anymore perfect than the black leather scout. The size of this bag just right and the effortless design is both practical and stylish. I love black leather and in particular the gold structuring on this bag. More importantly this bag would go with simply anything even if you are stepping off the plane in sweats. This is an example of worthwhile investment purchasing, a bag you will use time and time again but has all the elements and features you look for in a bag that isn't for practical use. The purposeful design of this bag is both imaginative and exception.

Shop the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection at Avenue 32, for bags that will fulfill any girls dream. Enjoy darlings!

'Every season I am inspired by women'- Oscar de la Renta

As many of you know I am a devout admirer of Oscar de la Renta, one of my favourite fashion designers. He is internationally recognised as a master of haute couture, making the most gorgeous gowns and dominating couture fashion week.
Here is a look into the life of such a fabulous man ...

'Fashion is about dressing according to what's fashionable. Style is more about being yourself.'

Óscar Arístides Ortiz de la Renta Fiallo was born on 22nd July 1932.
He left his home in the Domincan Repbulic at the age of 18 to go study in Spain. It was during his studies that he developed an interest in sketching and fashion.
He took an apprenticeship as a courtier at Christobel Balenciaga and further progressed to becoming a couture assistant for the House of Lanvin.

'I am not interested in shock tactics. I just want to make
beautiful clothes.'

Oscar was beginning to develop a name for himself and it was in 1963 he approached Diana Veerland, who was editor-in-chief of Vogue, asking her advice on how to enter the world of ready wear, where the heart and finance of fashion really lay. She advised him to work for Arden in which he did for 2 years.

The 1960's were really when Oscar came to prominence as her became a couturier for first lady Jackie Kennedy. Since then he has gone on to dress first ladies, Nancy Reagan, Hilary Clinton and Lara Busch.

In 1967 he married Françoise de Langlade the editor-in-chief of french Vouge.
In 1977 he introduced his first fragrances OSCAR and in 2001 his accessories line.
From 1993-2002 he designed the haute couture collection for the house for Balmain, showing how highly respected he was to fellow designers.

'Now is the most exciting time in fashion. Women are
controlling their destiny now, the consumer is more
knowledgeable, and I have to be better every single day.'

In 2006 Oscar made one of the biggest announcements of his career stating he was including a bridal collection in his line, this is one of his greatest successes designing wedding dresses for Katherine Heigl and Kate Bosworth. The CFDA have greatly respected and shown their support for Oscar de la Renta's work. He sat as president 1973-1976 and also 1986-1988, an honour that only a handful of designers would ever get in their lifetime.  He won the designer of the year award in 2000 and 2007 and the lifetime achievement award in 1990.

Oscar de la Renta campaigns are my favourite by all means and the AW13 campaign is amazing, check it out here: http://ooohlalaa-itsfashion.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/oscar-de-la-renta-fall-2013-campaign.html

Oscar is simply stunning and the stars agree:

Worthwhile pieces for A/W13

So Autumn is approaching us which means a completely new change of wardrobe! My aim is to pinpoint you to exactly where your money should be spent. These items are not only must buys but will see you through a fabulous Autumn/Winter season whilst always keeping up to date with the latest trends.

                                                                     Boots
Clarks, £74.99
A pair of fabulous boots are an absolute must have. Every year I struggle in finding a pair of gorgeous boots that I really love. Clarks shoes are a recommended buy by all means. Both their leather and suede collection of boots look stunning and have every inch of high quality you desire. I love these ankles boots with the minimal heels and simple design, very boho chic and the colour goes with every outfit.
Buy at, http://www.clarks.co.uk/c/womens-boots/ankle-boots and view the rest of this amazing collection.

Coat
Miss Selfridge, £69
A coat is something you will never have off your back therefore finding the right one is essential. Dress coats are lovely and I am a great admirer however they do not prove suitable for every occasion. It all depends on your day to day activities. Duffels keep you warm, dry and look cute and can easily be paired with any outfit, an aspect that dress coats can not fulfill.

Jeans
All Saints, £85
I have said it before and I will say it again, invest in a decent pair of jeans! Casual or going out you can dress them up or down, pair them with heels or boots. Go for quality over quantity, a lesson I have personally learnt when purchasing jeans over the years!

Sweaters
Aran cable jumpers are my favourite, buying one of these is a purchase you will never regret. These are perfect for the winter and they are so so comfortable plus look super chic when paired with jeans and boots. The quality exceeds expectations prompting your desire to buy them in every colour and fit.

Biker Jacket
River Island, £50
All the high street retailers are crushing on these jackets right now and I am particularly in love with this one (you know my love for monochrome). Once again these are cute for casual and going out and have a very flattering front line. Personally those that have zips accessorising the sleeves are not an aspect of my personal style choice but are perfect if you are opting for the edgy biker.

Black handbag
Ted Baker, £329
A black handbag goes with everything, make sure you choose a tote that will fit everything so it is perfect for university, work or shopping. A bag that fits every occasion and goes with every possible ensemble is a saviour.

Outdoor accessories

Snood, French Connection £75 and Gloves, £85 Ralph Lauren
Especially if you live in England or perhaps a cold New York, keeping warm is a necessity but you can also have the added bonus of looking glamorous whilst doing so. Although originally purchasing such pieces will seem expensive at the time if you opt for neutral colours such as cream, white or browns these items will last you for years to come and will never go out of fashion. I am a big fan of the snood over the scarf and a high quality pair of gloves are key.

Think about how you spend your money darlings! Autumn/Winter requires many essentials so make sure each individual piece is gorgeous and is of substantial quality meaning you will not only look great but you will also receive compliments all season long.

September, a fashion lover's favourite month

September marks when I was born, unfortunately I turn 20 this year … I’m getting old I know!

September entails the zodiac sign of Virgo and the birthstone of Sapphire.

September means fashion week! Hello New York (5th-12th) , London (13th-17th), Milan (18th-23rd) and Paris (2th-2nd Oct)!
Which means …
Cara Delevingne everywhere, Burberry working their magic and Karl Lagerfeld dazzling the world with Chanel, excited? Who wouldn’t be?!

September is also the major fashion magazine month Although September issues come out in August they are filled with the hottest and latest AW campaigns, have you ever seen the movie the ‘September issue’, looking at a day in the life of Anna Wintour? If not, you MUST.

September means the return to college or university. For me that means living in the city in my brand new apartment.
I love the city.

September is the beginning of autumn, my favourite season. I love the leaves falling off the trees and the scenery, not to mention experimenting with the latest autumn colours and opportunities for cute outfits.

September is the month for motivation, starting again and success. Keep this in mind darlings, you will flourish in the month of September.
