As I was writing my last blogpost I heard the breaking news that Ottavio Missoni, founder of the Italian fashion brand Missoni, has died aged 92. My condolences go to his family and his wife Rosita. Not only has he previously been an international athlete and a soldier in the Italian army during WW2 but he was also made a prisoner of war yet still entered successfully into the fashion world. The brand was launched in 1953 however it was in 1948 when he designed the Olympic tracksuits that his emergence in the fashion world really began.
What a wonderful, creative man.
His family manage the brand.
'I've never done what was fashionable," - he told WWD 2011
